Unexpected avalanche on DKD2 Peak has trapped trainees of NIM and the rescue operations are in progress.

These trainees were part of the Advanced training program conducted by NIM (Nehru Institute of Mountaineering).

The trainees had completed their scheduled DKD summit as part of their program and were returning back to the base camp.

Rescue operations are underway with the help of ITBP, NDRF, SDRF, and Indian Navy. We hope and pray for their safety.

10 lives are lost in this tragic incident as per early aerial survey reports. Heavy snowfall at high altitudes. Search operations will continue on Oct 5.

Oct 6 - 16 bodies were recovered by the rescue team. (14 trainees and 2 Instructors). The weather has not been favourable and accordingly the search will resume.

26 bodies have been recovered and 3 are still missing. We hope that the families cope soon from this unfortunate disaster.
